One of the favorite family holiday traditions is to purchase an artificial Christmas tree and unbox it inside the house. It’s a fact that most LED Christmas trees come compressed during shipping, whether they’re pre-lit or not. If you fluff your tree a bit, it will take on a much fuller shape.

But how does that work? Take a look!

These tips will help you fluff your artificial Christmas trees this Christmas and add a natural feel to your space:

Get the floor ready for fluffing

Fluffing your tree requires a clean, even, and obstacle-free area. Ensure you have enough space. Check the bulbs on your pre-lit tree to make sure they are working. By doing so, you can easily identify faulty bulbs and get an idea of what your artificial Christmas tree will look like.

Get Gloves

Avoid scratching your skin or irritating yourself with needles by wearing gloves. With gloves on, you can easily glide your fingers across the branches and tips of your artificial Christmas tree while applying fluff.

Set up and start shaping

Keeping one section of the tree at a time will avoid gaps. It’s best to start with the base sections since they are usually the biggest and require the most fluffing. Continue spreading the tips of the innermost branches as you step outward.

Using the outer tips, point them toward separate directions to create volume. Continue fluffing the tree’s layers until the whole thing is covered.

View your tree from a distance

Examine the completed product and adjust the branches as needed. Using a picture of the tree as a guide, tweak branch tips to achieve the desired effect. Lights on your Christmas tree should be evenly distributed, and the branches should be wide enough to accommodate ornaments, ribbons, and any other accessories.
